Adaptações
Quando eu comecei a escrever imaginava editoras e o mercado como um vilão, destruindo a criatividade, mutilando a obra e enxertando imagens inapropriadas com o que idealizei.
Quando comecei a trabalhar como designer passei pela mesma situação. Mas logo percebi que insistir nessa idéia seria investir num stress e numa doença posteriores.
Mas a postura continua por aí, eu sempre vejo. E eu acredito que essa flexibilidade tem muita ligação com o meu post anterior.
Semana passada comecei a ver uma série nova da Warner, inédita no Brasil, chamada Merlin – indicação do Fake. No orkut algumas pessoas reclamam que o roteiro da série não é fiel à “verdadeira história” do Rei Arthur. Não vou me extender dizendo que não existe uma “verdadeira história” e sim várias versões, como é comum em qualquer mitologia, ainda mais na celta.
Um problema parecido veio quando lançaram O Senhor dos Anéis no cinema, apesar de não tão diferente à história original do livro.
E quantas outras adaptações passaram por isso? Beowulf recentemente, por exemplo.
A versão mais antiga de Beowulf é do ano 1000 da Era Comum (ou Cristã), escrito em antigo inglês, provavelmente copiada por monges, e cheia de “enxertos” e “adaptações” cristãs ao que se supõe ser a história original, pagã. O filme é só mais uma das adaptações em cima da história, tirando a visão cristã. Outras fantasiam sobre isso.
As áreas da literatura e do design têm algo em comum: a criação. E apesar de eu não ser um escritor profissional já experimentei e estudei um pouco do que é “escrever”. E como qualquer profissional, não se trabalha somente pela arte, mas se têm em vista o mercado – e o mercado é feito de pessoas que compram sua idéia se se sentirem tocadas, se houver comunicação com o “mundo interior” delas, com seus valores, princípios e emoções, incluindo o medo e o desejo.
Exemplo prático: um dia na agência que trabalhei desenvolvi uma peça com fundo escuro. Ficou linda, mas o cliente pediu para deixar o fundo branco, eu resmunguei, mas mudei a cor do fundo, os efeitos que tinham ficado bons para o fundo escuro ficaram terríveis no fundo branco, então eu refiz todos os efeitos e suavizei. Mantive a “alma” da peça, mas clareei. Eu já vi gente simplesmente mandando o fundo de cor trocada e reclamando que o cliente destruiu a peça, faltou tato, na minha opinião.
Acontece isso com adaptações para o cinema, para o teatro, para qualquer coisa! A alma não está nas formas ou nas cores, nas palavras. Beowulf foi adaptado para os tempos cristãos e se manteve. Senhor dos Anéis teve que ser passado para a linguagem do cinema, algo teve que ser cortado ou refeito. A alma da criação é o efeito que se espera nas pessoas, como ele é feito é irrelevante.
E voltando ao Merlin, a série não pretende reconstruir a história de Arthur, é uma criação nova, para um público diferente, e obviamente toda a história mudou, foi uma adaptação, absolutamente não fiel ao original, mas eu estou gostando do que vi, me entretem.
